Bar height or counter height? Bar stools and tables are usually available at one of two heights: bar height and table height. It is important that your bench has the right height for your table and vice versa.
Counter Height is used to describing benches 24" to 26" high and tables 36" high.
Bar height is used to describe benches 30" high and tables 40" to 42" high.
There are some benches that come in several other heights, usually called high stools or custom-made. As a general rule, the height of the stool should be 10" to 12" lower than the height of the table you plan to use with it. So, if you have a bench that is 36 inches high, you will need a table that is 46-48 inches high.
